The ‘Brasilia’ is based in Horta Marina on the Island of Faial. A modern marina with excellent facilities and where sport fishermen find themselves attracted not only to the excellent fishing, but also to the natural beauty of the Islands and the warm hospitality of the local people.

Prime fishing season is during the months of July, August and September. By early October it is normally a deterioration of weather conditions that reduces the number of fishing days rather than a lack of fish.

The 'Brasilia' is a 40' Blackwatch built in 2005. She is powered by twin Cummins (Diamond) C Series giving her a total of 900 hp and a cruise speed of 20 knots. It is the precise handling and impressive sea keeping characteristics of the semi-V hull design that has given the Blackwatch an outstanding reputation with the International sport fishing community.

Brasilia’s cockpit has a spacious 12.5 m2 with a Scopinich fighting chair mounted on a 12" offset stanchion. An offset effectively puts the line further away from the hull whilst fighting fish that are under the boat. The offset may also support the use slightly shorter rods that can give advantage of more leverage when working fish. Outriggers are one-piece, double spreader riggers from Rupp Marine.

The Makaira is our 30' Merryfisher is available for charter in 2010. Twin Cummins B series diesels (newly installed in 2009) provide a total of 420 hp and a cruise speed of 18 knots. The hull provides excellent maneuverability and combines a spacious 9 m2 cockpit, HD Chair, Lee riggers and Simrad electronics.

The Makaira is well suited to light tackle fishing and may be available for 'bare-boat' charter to visiting professional crews on request.
